Crossroads Handcrafts of the World is a local non-profit dedicated to furthering the mission of Fair Trade through the sale of unique, eco-friendly, handcrafted products and food around the world and the USA. Founded in 1988, Crossroads is volunteer staffed and a longtime respected presence in downtown Bloomington. Who we are looking for:
We are seeking an energetic, passionate, and respectful Store Manager to become a long-term addition to our team. A self-starter and quick learner who takes initiative and seeks out new challenges.
This is a part-time hourly position with a minimum of 20 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday. Both days and hours worked may vary October-December depending on store needs and may require up to 30 hours per week requiring no vacation during October - December.
The store manager reports to the President of the Board.
The Board of Directors sets policy for Crossroads.
The manager is required to attend and report monthly at the Board of Directors meetings.
Required Skills and Experience:
Two-year college education or equivalent required. Four-year college degree preferred.
At least 4 years of retail experience is desired with some capacity as a supervisor or performing managerial roles.
Solid organizational and leadership skills to manage staff and daily activities.
Strong story-teller that will share the positive product stories with our customers.
Outstanding interpersonal, writing and communication skills
Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office, Word & Excel.
Willing to learn Point of Sale (Artisan) computer software and Wix website management.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds and climb a small ladder.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Day-to-day management of a retail store, with a combined staff of 52 volunteers and all of the related procedures and activities.
Presence in the store with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Support and assist volunteers and interact with customers.
Work with the treasurer on financial matters.
Able to troubleshoot computer system issues.
Purchasing and Inventory Control
Select and order merchandise in collaboration with the Inventory Committee during monthly scheduled meetings.
Coordinate processing, tracking and review incoming orders.
Track inventory, purchases, and sales using a computerized inventory and Point of Sale (Artisan) database.
Oversee annual inventory.
Meet sales goals with creative solutions and analytical reasoning.
Marketing and Sales
Coordinate with Marketing Consultant/Marketing Committee Chair for social media and other advertising and promotions.
Coordinate with the Crossroads Board to schedule sales and promotion dates.
Coordinate, maintain and oversee Crossroads online sales via Wix
Work with assigned people on maintaining our customer mailing lists.
Shop Appearance & Maintenance
Display merchandise in an attractive and appropriate manner.
Rearrange shop for seasonal and educational displays.
Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting retail environment.
Fair Trade enthusiast with a passion for global issues.
A positive outlook and inclusive approach.
Social Media awareness and marketing experience is a plus.
Experience with Artisan and Wix program systems, inventory purchasing and management is preferred.
Physical demands are that employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit , stand, walk; use hands to fingers, reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Also required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs and use a small ladder.
